studiował grę na fortepianie i coaching wokalny na Uniwersytecie Muzycznym w Dreźnie. Lekcje pobierał między innymi w klasie śpiewu Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Po zaproszeniu na renomowany festiwal Boston Symphony Orchestra kontynuował studia w Tanglewood Music Center (USA). Michael Schütze występował jako solista z różnymi orkiestrami, w tym z Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau. Jest regularnie zaangażowany jako oficjalny akompaniator międzynarodowych konkursów wokalnych: Międzynarodowego Konkursu im. Roberta Schumanna w Zwickau, Bawarskiego Konkursu Radiowego „La Voce”, „NATS” w Los Angeles, DEBUT w Weikersheim i „Competizione dell’Opera”.
Uczy akompaniamentu i interpretacji pieśni na Uniwersytecie Muzycznym w Dreźnie, a we wrześniu 2019 roku został mianowany profesorem fortepianu na Uniwersytecie Muzyki Kościelnej w Dreźnie. Jest także akompaniatorem wielu chórów (m.in. Dresdner Kammerchor, Singakademie Dresden) zarówno w roli pianisty, jak i organisty. Jest gościnnym pianistą Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden i Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen.
Od 2004 roku regularnie gościnnie wykłada w Stanach Zjednoczonych, m.in. na California State University w Fullerton, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Brigham Young University Provo i University of Delaware. W 2014 roku był gościnnym wykładowcą DAAD na Uniwersytecie Nowego Meksyku oraz wykładał gościnnie na Uniwersytecie Jońskim w Korfu. Współpracował jako akompaniator ze śpiewakami, takimi jak Olaf Bär, Andreas Schmidt, Christoph Pohl, Georg Zeppenfeld czy Henriette Gödde, z którą w 2016 roku zdobył pierwszą nagrodę na Międzynarodowym Konkursie im. Schumanna w Zwickau.
Koncerty i festiwale (Festival Mitte Europa , Łużyckie Lato Muzyczne, Festiwal Kurta Weilla w Dessau, Festiwal Muzyczny w Dreźnie) otworzyły mu drogę do wielu krajów Europy. Jego nagrania emitowane były przez rogłosnie radiowe MDR i RBB oraz cypryjskie RIK.
W 2011 roku został profesorem Uniwersytetu Muzycznego w Dreźnie. W 2018 roku nakładem wytwórni GENUIN ukazała się płyta CD z jego udziałem z utworami koreańskiego kompozytora Young Jo Lee z sopranistką Yoorą Lee-Hoff. Można go również usłyszeć na niedawno wydanej świątecznej płycie Chóru Dziecięcego Filharmonii Drezdeńskiej.

Michael Schütze has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau. He is regularly engaged as official accompanist for international singing competitions, the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, the Bavarian Radio Competition „La Voce”, the „NATS” in Los Angeles, DEBUT in Weikersheim and the „Competizione dell’Opera”.
He teaches accompaniment and song interpretation at the Dresden University of Music and was appointed professor of piano at the Dresden University of Church Music in September 2019. He is also a sought-after accompanist for various choirs (Dresdner Kammerchor, Singakademie Dresden, etc.) both as a pianist and as an organist. He is a welcome guest pianist with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen.
Since 2004 he has been a regular guest lecturer in the United States, such as at California State University in Fullerton, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Brigham Young University Provo and the University of Delaware. In 2014 he was a DAAD guest lecturer at the University of New Mexico and taught as a guest lecturer at the Ionian University of Corfu. He worked as an accompanist with singers such as Olaf Bär, Andreas Schmidt, Christoph Pohl, Georg Zeppenfeld and Henriette Gödde, who won first prize at the International Schumann Competition in Zwickau with him on the piano in 2016.
Concerts and festivals (Festival Mitte Europa, Lusatian Music Summer, Kurt Weill Festival Dessau, Dresden Music Festival) have taken him to numerous European countries. Radio recordings by MDR and RBB and the Cyprus RIK are available. In 2011 he became a professor at the Dresden University of Music. In 2018, a song CD with works by the Korean composer Young Jo Lee with the soprano Yoora Lee-Hoff was released on the GENUIN label. He can also be heard on the recently released Christmas CD by the Dresden Philharmonic Children’s Choir.

Einladungen zum renommierten Festival des Boston Symphony Orchestra folgend setzte er sein Studium am Tanglewood Music Center (USA) fort. Michael Schütze konzertierte als Solist verschiedener Orchester, darunter die Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau. Regelmäßig wird er als offizieller Begleiter für internationale Gesangswettbewerbe verpflichtet, zum Internationalen Robert-Schumann-Wettbewerb in Zwickau, zum Wettbewerb des Bayrischen Rundfunks „La Voce“, den „NATS“ in Los Angeles, DEBUT in Weikersheim und zum „Competizione dell’Opera“.
Er unterrichtet Korrepetition und Liedgestaltung an der Hochschule für Musik Dresden und wurde im September 2019 zum Professor für Klavier an der Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden berufen. Außerdem ist er gefragter Begleiter verschiedener Chöre (Dresdner Kammerchor, Singakademie Dresden u.a.) sowohl als Pianist als auch als Organist. Er ist gern gesehener Gastpianist bei der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden und der Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen.
Seit 2004 unterrichtet er regelmäßig als Gastdozent in den Vereinigten Staaten, wie an der California State University in Fullerton, dem Cincinnati Conservatory of  Music, der Brigham Young University Provo  sowie an der University of Delaware. 2014 nahm er eine DAAD-Gastdozentur an der University of New Mexico wahr und unterrichtete als Gastdozent an der Ionischen Universität Korfu. Er arbeitete als Liedbegleiter mit Sängern wie KS Olaf Bär, KS Andreas Schmidt, Christoph Pohl, Georg Zeppenfeld und Henriette Gödde, die 2016 mit ihm am Klavier den 1. Preis beim Internationalen Schumann-Wettbewerb in Zwickau gewann.
Konzerte und Festivals (Festival Mitte Europa, Lausitzer Musiksommer, Kurt-Weill-Fest Dessau, Dresdner Musikfestspiele) führten ihn in zahlreiche europäische Länder. Rundfunkaufnahmen bei MDR und RBB und dem zypriotischen RIK liegen vor. 2011 wurde er Professor an der Hochschule für Musik Dresden.  2018 erschien beim Label GENUIN  eine Lied-CD mit Werken des koreanischen Komponisten Young Jo Lee mit der Sopranistin Yoora Lee-Hoff. Auf der kürzlich erschienenen Weihnachts-CD des Philharmonischen Kinderchores Dresden ist er ebenso zu hören.
